Was in the area at a local store and saw this cute barber shop. My son needed a hair trim but had held off for a long time because of bad past experiences with having too much cut off. We love supporting local businesses, so we decided to give them a shot. The ladies were very welcoming and accommodated a 'walk in' even though busy. The decor and atmosphere were unique, festive, and fun. Their front shelves in the waiting area were doned with nice male styling products and a fridge with cold beer, soda, and even drinks for kids. The hairstylist was very kind and listened to what my son was asking for. He was not disappointed. She actually gave him just a trim and even gave him pointers on hair care for his long locks. She even styled his hair in a braid for no extra cost. Decently priced at only 15. A must try for guys if you need a haircut or trim. We will definitely be returning for his next trim.

Emily is hands down the best barber I’ve been to downriver. Worth the drive, or wait to get appointments. Lather in general has a great atmosphere, and is a customer first environment.

We used to go to Lather when Leah first opened in Carleton then we moved away. We moved back to Michigan and were having a hard time finding a barber that could cut our son’s ”hockey flow” right so we decided to drive over an hour to have Cassey cut it. We’ve never been disappointed with Cassey or Leah and will continue to drive to Flat Rock for his cuts. Thanks Cassey!

Girlfriends & wives beware! Emily gave my husband an incredible mullet and I fell pregnant shortly after. Coincidence? Absolutely not. I give her 5 stars!

After searching for years for a place to get a consistently good haircut I’m extremely happy I found Lather. Both my son and I have been getting our hair cut by Emily since the Flat Rock shop opened and it’s always exactly how we want it. Good atmosphere, all of the women do an excellent job. I highly recommend them.

I came in looking like a half-plucked chicken and left looking like a man who definitely knows how to change a tire in under 5 minutes. Emily didn’t just cut my hair—she summoned the ancient spirits of precision, style, and sass. She asked what I wanted, and I said, “Make me look like I have my life together.” Boom. Ten minutes later, I looked like I pay my taxes early and drink coffee black with purpose. Not only is Emily a wizard with the clippers, but she’s also got the chair-side humor of a seasoned stand-up comic. I laughed, I cried, I got a hot towel that made me question every poor haircut decision I’ve ever made. Will I be back? Absolutely. Will I be bringing snacks for Emily next time? Also yes. Five stars and a slow clap for this haircut hero.
